Founders of the International Homeland Security Network

Who We Are

The International Homeland Security Network (IHSN) is an informal collection of individuals and organizations dedicated to the idea that Homeland Security in all of its aspects is best accomplished through the sharing of knowledge and best practices. Further, it is the belief of the IHSN that knowledge and best practices should be shared between levels of government (national to/from local), between peer entities (governments, organizations, idividuals, etc.) within the constraints imposed by law, regulation, and good sense.

The IHSN is purely voluntary at this point in time and is offered at no cost to any participant other than the site's owner and administrator, who is providing the site as a public service. Further, it is not subsidized by any organization of any kind and, therefore, is free of organizational encumberances.

The Purpose of This Site

This site is intended to provide four basic services:

  1. A clearing house for the exchange of best practices and knowledge with respect to all aspects of Emergency and Crisis Management
  2. A searchable database of participants in the IHSN to facilitate communications and the sharing of best practices and knowledge
  3. A searchable database of governmental organizations and non-profit organizations that endorse the IHSN
  4. A searchable database of interested industry partners that identifies the providers of products and services that are offered to the International Homeland Security community (NOTE: Although initially free to all, this service may require a fee for listing at some time in the future if expenses exceed the capabilities of the site's owner)

Some information will be available to the general public. However, information, such as the searchable databases, will be available to registered participants only.

Participation in the IHSN

While some information found on this site will be made available to all interested parties, most of the information, particularly contact information, will only be made available to registered participants that have a verifiable interest in the goals and purposes of this web site. Thus, in order to become a registered participant of the IHSN, a candidate participant must provide the following information to the webmaster of IHSN.net:

  1. Full name and title
  2. Corporate affiliation
  3. Snail mail and email addresses
  4. Telephone number(s)
  5. Current photograph
  6. Brief description of why participation in the IHSN is desired and background in Homeland Security related issues
  7. Name and email address of a current participant in the IHSN that can verify all of the above information. This person must receive a copy of this email.
  8. Desired User ID

Once all information is verified, the new participant's User ID will be confirmed and a temporary password for access to all restricted features of the IHSN as they become available.

Last Update: 7 May 2005

Comments and applications for participation should be sent to webmaster@ihsn.net
